Summit Grove Counseling

Liz Somsanith, LCSW, PMH-C

Looking for a therapist is a courageous first step and making yourself vulnerable with a stranger can feel intimidating. I consider it a great privilege to sit with others, listen to their stories, and walk alongside them as they make steps towards change. I am highly empathetic, down to earth, & non-judgmental. I use relational and collaborative approaches in therapy and draw from cognitive behavioral techniques, eco-systemic structural family therapy, motivational interviewing, and mindfulness based strategies.

My goal is to meet you where you are at and help you feel safe, heard and understood. I believe strongly that pain and grief needs to be witnessed so that we can heal. Sometimes seasons of life are messy, painfully lonely, or anxiety producing. I would love to walk alongside you, supporting you through both the pain and triumphs of your own journey.

I currently work with adults (18+) experiencing anxiety, depression, grief and loss, perinatal concerns (pregnancy loss, TTC, pregnancy, perinatal anxiety/depression, adjustment to parenthood), family conflict, relational challenges, parenting stress, life transitions, and health-related concerns.

I am a licensed clinical social worker in the state of Pennsylvania. I received my Masters of Social Work from Temple University (clinical concentration; health/mental health specialization) and my Bachelors of Social Work from Eastern University. I have worked with children, teens, adults, and families in various settings. Since entering the mental health field in 2008, I have worked as a family-based therapist (homes, community, schools), behavioral health consultant in primary care setting (FQHC), and I’ve provided individual and family therapy in the out-patient setting. I am certified in Perinatal Mental Health (PMH-C) through Postpartum Support International. I’ve completed a certificate program in Primary Care Behavioral Health and I’m a certified Grief Educator, trained by grief expert David Kessler.

I offer a free 10 minute phone consultation to answer any questions and see if we might be a good fit. Contact Liz directly at [email protected] or at 267-289-2528

—-Liz is in network with Aetna, Highmark, Independence Blue Cross (to include Keystone Health Plan East, Personal Choice, Independence Administrators, and Magellan) and United Health Care/Optum.
